Grand Theft Auto VI Pre-Orders Are Live

It's been an interesting last few months here at Play It! in regards to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. When it was revealed that the "physical" edition of Grand Theft Auto VI was going be a code-in-box only release, we were left stunned companywide. It led to some internal discussions, and with the lack of information at the time, we were left with only one real option: to cease taking pre-orders, and maybe even not carry the title at all.

"So What Changed?" At the time of the announcement in June, we were not sure if any of our distributors will be carrying the game. After these many weeks and emails, we were able to confirm that some of our distributors will indeed be carrying the "physical" copy of Grand Theft Auto VI, and in turn Play It! can carry Grand Theft Auto VI Day One (more on that bit later). We already had a decent handful of pre-orders before the announcement was made, so as a courtesy we called all of the pre-orders to see if they would like to make any updates to them. Several requested to be refunded, some were unable to be reached, but a good number requested that we kept their pre-order.

Initially, we were only going to order enough to fulfill our current pre-orders. Then the consensus amongst the managers was, "well we might as well order a few extra, just in case". After a brief moment of contemplation, the consensus then turned into, "well if we're going to be carrying extras, we might as well do some marketing for it again". So here we are.

"So What Is The Gameplan Now?" Grand Theft Auto VI will be available to pre-order in store or online, starting today. With this "physical" release being solely a Code-In-Box release, we unfortunately cannot provide our normal Defective Return Policy for this title. This means that we cannot provide refunds if you were to purchase this title from us. If you were to run into any issues, we would request that you contact Rockstar Support, or PlayStation/Xbox Support instead. While Grand Theft Auto VI officially releases November 19th, the "physical" edition will be available for purchase on November 12th. This is to allow customers to pre-download the game before the official release date. This does not mean you can play the game early. Please be aware of this information if you are intending to buy the title from Play It! Because of the strange release window, Play It! will not be doing a Midnight Release for Grand Theft Auto VI.

While we are saddened by the current state of video games and the cultural shift towards an all-digital future on some platforms, we are thankful to be in a position where we can adapt and still provide the latest titles to our wonderful customers. We will always believe that nothing will ever beat the benefits of physical releases. But as a business, the customer comes first; and we believe it is our duty to provide options for our customers, no matter the format. Thank you for your continuing support.
